Uber Urban Design Kit

The Uber Urban PopUP Design Kit is a modern mix of art and décor, combining sleek elements of slate, steel and chrome softened by abstract art and colorful furniture. This ultra-mod home will deliver a heightened sense of sophistication yet remains completely accessible with its casual elegance - perfect for entertaining.

EXTERIOR

The Exterior Design Kit of the Ranch PopUP House is what gives the Urban it's “uber” nickname. Here we have pushed the envelope in designing the siding which is a fabrication of a black and white painting applied to architectural metal wall paneling. We have re-created the painting as a 3D installation onto the walls of the two cubes. To intensify the “uber” experience, we have chosen modern and post-modern outdoor furniture. In the back of the house, which features a DYI spa and lap pool, we arranged two groupings of Knoll Bertoia asymmetric chaises in black with blueberry vinyl pads accented by marble-topped round side tables. The area between the cubes has a nice sitting area with an Italian designed sectional next to a concrete rectangular table featuring a gel fire pit in the center for a quick warm up. The fire gel table also warms the dining area which is also located there. Eight Bertoia black wire chairs vinyl claret colored pads surround the Saarinen oval dining table. To tie the exterior together, we chose white Sunbrella curtains for the soft wall enclosure under the metal House Port roof. Havanna outdoor floor lamps and wall sconces by Foscarni are the perfect accessories for the cubes' application. The platinum jute rugs bring a natural feel to this ultra contemporary exterior as does the geometric shaped planters placed in the front of the PopUP House filled with exotic succulents. Last but not least, we insist on the Frontgate all stainless BBQ Grill outdoor kitchen unit. Note that the House Port Structure is powder-coated white so it blends nicely with the cubes and furniture installation.

INTERIOR

CUBE I

LIVING/DINING

Let's start with the living/dining area which is an open ultra-modern sexy space with carefully chosen pieces to match our sleek exterior style. Two magenta leather couches on each side of a white slate table sets the vibrant tone in the living room. For lighting, we feature a totally illuminated curved floor lamp and a one-of-a-kind sculptural floor lamp with mahogany shaped veneered wood and brushed aluminum. All is brought together with a contemporary fettuccine silver floor rug.

Seamlessly moving into the dining room, we continue the contemporary feel with a polished chrome, glassed topped table with four Kartell Eros chairs fabricated in transparent cobalt blue plastic. We really give the dining area a POP feel with a 60” twenty-light satin nickel chandelier.

KITCHEN

The kitchen is sleek with stainless appliances and fixtures contrasted with high gloss white cabinets. The black stove and hood kicks the kitchen to that professional level with plenty of workspace on the Zodiaq Bianco Carrera Corian counter tops and back splash. We use pendant lighting over the island with modern designed stools to complete the upscale look.

GUEST BEDROOM

A simple platform bed frame in espresso stained wood holds a low profile Sertapedic queen mattress set. The bedding is complete with queen sheet set and three throw pillows from the Missoni Home Collection. For that cozy warm feel, we add a queen sized 100% Sonoma wool blanket. Two Gus modern pawn side tables in saffron yellow lacquer go on each side of the bed. Two Sonneman pin-up wall sconces are placed above the tables. A Knoll Bortoia chair with full cover in ochre velvet and polished chrome base anchors the room with the modern theme, along with a six-drawer dresser in a high-gloss white finish.

GUEST BATHROOM

Two contemporary Italian full column sink/vanity combination in black lacquer wood sets the tone for this luxurious spa experience. There is a wall mounted Duravit Stark white toilet and a white stand-alone soaking tub with polished chrome floor fixtures. All other fixtures are also finished in polished chrome and for extra storage, a rotating cabinet. The tube sconce lighting is sophisticated but effective for various bathroom requirements.

UTILITY

How do we make laundry fun? By installing a large front load washer and dryer in fire engine red. The storage doesn't just hold the house supplies but displays them in a white three-tier bookcase. There is space for the water heater in the “home” cube but it is not included in the kit.

CUBE II

MEDIA LOUNGE

Sit back and relax in the MOD chaise chairs with matching ottomans in vintage 60's style upholstery. Right next to you is your drink atop the walnut pawn stools. Not to be outdone by the adjacent sitting area with a white leather wing sofa, a glossy red desk with pull-out key tray is in sight. Also covered with the vintage fabric is an Eames desk chair, including hardy chrome casters. The Z high-powered LED desk lamp gives a futuristic touch but the glamour really sparkles with the George Kovacs “bling, bling” wall sconces. The room comes together with a multi-colored geometric rug and two vibrant “Peephole Paintings.”

MASTER BEDROOM

A low profile bed in dark Wenge hardwood gives a peaceful, organic mood to get away from it all. Retreat into a queen Sertapedic firm mattress featuring elegance and luxury with bedding from Missoni Home. The matching dark Wenge dresser and nightstands complete the rich furniture ensemble. Of course, for just a brief escape to read or catch up on emails, stretch out in the sitting area on the Blu Dot “Bonnie and Clyde” sectional accessorized by Naguchi glass coffee table. The Forcarni Twiggy Floor Lamp is perfect overhead lighting. Warming up the room are two wash slate contemporary rugs by Calvin Klein Rugs.

MASTER BATHROOM

Complimenting the dark richness of the bedroom pieces are the 2 matching vanities with mirror cabinets and contemporary sinks in the master bath. Matching the rectangular sinks is the shower base, enhanced with a frameless glass enclosure, ensuring a fresh designed feel. A duel shower head in chrome offers the option of an overhead rain spray or the handheld spray. We repeated the Stark wall mounted toilet in white. Other bath fixtures are polished chrome including towel rack, toilet paper holder, drawer pulls and wall sconces giving the room a contemporary feel.
